Course Overview:

Respiratory Protection Awareness explains the basics of respiratory hazards and how workers can be protected from these hazards. This course will walk you through the various types of respirators, what factors influence the selection of a respirator, and the proper maintenance of this kind of protective equipment.

Course Objectives:

The purpose of this course is to provide a foundation that you can build upon when understanding the best ways to identify respiratory hazards, proper testing, selection and maintenance of various types of respirators.
  • Upon completion of the program, participants will be able to:
  • Understand how the respiratory system works
  • Understand the importance of medical evaluations and ongoing medical surveillance
  • Identify and understand respiratory hazards
  • Understand the factors that influence the selection of a particular type of respirator
  • Identify the two main types of respirators and the conditions each should be used in
  • Identify the different types of filters and cartridges
  • Understand and perform qualitative and quantitative fit testing
  • Know what conditions are considered “Immediately Dangerous to Life and Health (IDLH)”
  • Understand proper fit, monitoring, inspection, cleaning, and storage of respirators

Evaluation Process:

At the end of each module, there is a test. Participants that do not achieve 100% can review the module content and try as many times as necessary to complete the course. Test questions are randomly selected from a test bank, making each test unique. 

Upon successfully completing all modules, there is a printable certificate for your records.
